4 Easy Miles Yesterday.
I got in 4 miles yesterday.  I am still trying to get my HR back in check.  My pace was in the 12 minute range and I had the wind to my back the whole way.  With that, I was able to keep the HR under 155 and mostly around 148.  I have a long way to go still but I think it is getting better since I am running the whole way now and not walking.  A 145 HR should put me around a 9 something pace for...

Pretty sore today!
Yesterday, as I was getting ready to go outside to play with the kids in the snow, I fell down the stairs.  I know. I know.  Anyway, I went thump thump thump down about the last three to four stairs on my ass all the way to the bottom.  Damn sock feet on wooden stairs.  It was one of those that hurt so bad you laugh kind of things.  I was carrying my morning shake (breakfast) in my hand when it...

First run after Rocky
Did a 3 mile run/walk this morning.  I am working to keep the HR under 155 or so. I am going to continue to do this until it gets back to normal. It was a pleasant run in the light snow fall until it started sleeting.  Sleet pelting you in the face is no fun at all.    Happy Monday!

Weather problem? Nope
I just got my mountain bike back from the shop yesterday. I had a cracked frame that Trek replaced under warranty. All fixed now so I planned to go ride tomorrow. The high is going to be 38 deg. with 20mph winds. You know what? Screw the weather, I am going anyway!

Weight loss focus!
I have decided to focus on my weight loss for the next few months while I cut back on my mileage to fully recover from my pneumonia.  I have started a rather odd diet, for me at least.  I started on Monday at 202lbs. My goal weight is 170lbs. by mid July, before my Tahoe 100 mile race.  I am doing a 100% raw foods only, low fat vegan diet. It is very similar to some of the diets they put...

Rocky Raccoon 100 Race Recap
I am going to keep this one short since it didn’t turn out that well for me.  No need to rehash bad things, right?  Race morning it rained its ass off.  The trails were very muddy in a lot of sections.  It produced the kind of mud that tries to pull your shoes off as you run/walk through it. My first 3 loops were fairly uneventful.  I was making good time while keeping a very slow pace.  My...

runwithrach: LiveLongTrainHard does the ultra shuffle. We all laugh. (excuse my Southern accent…man, it’s bad) That is me.  I think most of my problem was the HUGE blisters on the balls of both of my feet.  OUCH!

RR 100
Thank you for all the kind words on my wife’s blog. If you didn’t know, I made it to mile 72 then started to have some breathing problems. It got exciting pretty quick. I’ll post a race recap once back.

Break Down!
I drank my first soda in almost a month.  It was of the sugar variety too.  Not to many things get me down, but this HR and running thing is getting pretty close.  My Mountain Dew is helping me cope with it.
